Beside the seaside
We spent this weekend on the East coast of Taiwan in Toucheng(頭城), Ilan. We had booked a house which overlooked the ocean for the weekend which 4 families could descend on (with children aged 1, 1, 1 & 4).
After everyone had a splash in the ocean (with some people getting wetter and dirtier than others), we all headed to Ilan for a traditional hot spring; the fact that we arrived in a torrential downpour meant that we got just as wet outside the spring as in it.
On Sunday, we inspected the hills behind Toucheng, and then headed on to the new Taiwan national traditional arts park in Ilan. Having spent a happy few hours there, we spent a less happy 4 hours in traffic jams as we (along with half the island) tried to return to Taipei.
